It’s pretty hard to miss the county’s newly painted water tower in Landen-Deerfield Township, just off Interstate 71.  What a welcome sign for tourists driving by!

Did you know that Tourism is Warren County’s largest industry, attracting nearly 6 Million tourists a year generating a nearly $640 Million economic impact to the region annually?

Dear Residents of Warren County

Welcome! This is my personal County Commissioner Home Page.  This site highlights some
of the issues I am working on to help assure that Warren County Ohio offers a responsible and
proactive county government to address the many issues facing us due to our county's 75%
growth rate over the last 16 years & 28.5% just since the 2000 census.  Our population in 1990
was 113,909.  By 2000 our population reached 158,383 and numbers released in March of 2008
show Warren County's 2006 population at 204,390.  While our growth rate has slowed for the
2nd year in a row, there is still plenty of growth to keep us busy!  Last year we only grew by
4,813 people or about 13 new residents a day.  Census data also showed that about half of our
new households are migrating from Hamilton & Montgomery County.  Warren County still ranks as the 2nd fastest  growing county in the state and still in the top 100 fastest growing counties in the nation, coming at at #98.  To be honest, this modest slowdown in growth has been a blessing, as we near completion on Growth Management & Economic Development Plans that includes up-dating all land use and thoroughfare plans and re-writing our zoning code for the 5 of the 11 townships that our Board of Commissioners have authority over in Warren County.  The number of housing units in Warren County has grown 21% from 2000 to 2005.

These are exciting and challenging times in Warren County Government because what we do and plan for today will have a long-term impact on the way we all want this county to be in 20-30 and even 50 years in the future.  Despite being one of Ohio's leading counties' in new job creation, our residential growth is out pacing our business growth and we are working to create a better balance through increased emphasis on Economic Development.

Our Board of Commissioners control the zoning for 5 of our 11 Townships (Franklin, Harlan, Turtlecreek, Union & Washington).  That's why it is imperative that we stay on course in completing our Growth Management Goals & Objectives that will preserve the ambience and rural character in these 5 Townships by defining and minimizing housing densities, conservation designed developments that conserve open and green space as well as defining where we want to encourage the new growth to occur.  More importantly, we will be able to define where we don't want a lot of new growth to occur.  This is a 3 year process that we hope will be complete by late summer or fall of this year.

2007 promises to be a fast pace year with plenty of other projects and issues to address.  We continue relentless efforts on additional jail space for prisoners, helping get Sinclair College established in our county, completing our Comprehensive Plan and Land Use plans, analyzing our long term public transportation needs and establishing priorities in funding for more than $300M in roadway improvements. We also continue to roll back all property taxes by about $6M per year and are trying to get legislation that would give Senior Citizens a large reduction on their property taxes.

I will make every attempt to keep you informed on my views and positions and hope you will take time to visit this site frequently.  As always, I want to hear from you.
